The Southeast Alaska Food Bank is always in need of pet food. Pet food is accepted during any food drive. Please donate.

PETCO will accept donations of wholesome pet food that your pets will not use or eat.

Grateful Dogs delivers the food to the food bank and local food pantries.

14th Holiday (2023) Pet Food Drive was a success. 1581 pounds of dog and cat food were collected.

Thanks to PETCO and Juneau Animal Rescue for their assistance with the pet food drive.

13th Annual Holiday Pet Food Drive -- 2022

THANK YOU, JUNEAU! 2022 PET FOOD DRIVE WAS A SUCCESS.

The 13th Annual Holiday Pet Food Drive was a success.

1883 pounds of dog and cat food were collected during the drive. For the first time in the history of the pet food drive, the amount of cat food collected was almost equal to the amount of dog food collected.

Thanks to the community of Juneau and the businesses and organizations that supported the pet food drive. We appreciate the generosity of the Juneau public and their continuous giving making our holiday pet food drive successful.

Grateful Dogs wants to especially thank Juneau Animal Rescue, PETCO, and Southeast Alaska Food Bank for hosting pet food collection boxes this year.

12th Annual Holiday Pet Food Drive -- 2021

From Monday, December 6, thru Sunday, December 12, the Grateful Dogs of Juneau is collecting donations of dog and cat food.

The pet food is being collected for distribution to clients of Juneau food banks and food pantries who have pets that are in need of wholesome food during this Holiday season and throughout the year. Pet food is also distributed to animal rescue organizations in northern Southeast to the extent that supplies permit. Grateful Dogs urges the Juneau community to give the gift of food to pets in need during this holiday season. The pets of Juneau will benefit from your generosity.

Due to the COVID pandemic, collection boxes for pet food will be available at only 2 locations this year: PETCO in the Nugget Mall and the Southeast Alaska Animal Medical Center on Glacier Highway near Fred Meyer. Donations may be made during normal business hours at both locations.

The holiday pet food drive is an annual event for Grateful Dogs of Juneau. This is the 12^th year that Grateful Dogs has conducted the holiday pet food drive. Last year’s pet food drive collected a record amount of 2800 pounds of dog and cat food. Grateful Dogs hopes to collect even more pet food during this year’s drive. The holiday pet food drive provided a significant portion of the 9,000 pounds of cat and dog food collected and distributed by the Grateful Dogs of Juneau in the last 12 months. At the present time, our stock pile of pet food has been exhausted.

11th Annual Holiday Pet Food Drive -- 2020 RECORD Collection !!!!!

The 2020 Holiday Pet Food Drive was our most successful drive yet. In spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, Grateful Dogs of Juneau was able to collect 1982 pounds of dog food and 818 pounds of cat food. A total of 2800 pounds of dog and cat food was collected which is a new record amount of donations. The previous record was 1680 pounds collected in 2016. Donations of cat food were up substantially. Cat food has always been in short supply during prior years.

From Monday, December 7, thru Sunday, December 13, the Grateful Dogs of Juneau collected donations of dog and cat food.

The pet food will be distributed to pets in need through the local food bank and food pantries. When adequate pet food supplies are on hand, Grateful Dogs also shares pet food with surrounding communities that are in need.

The Juneau community has been truly generous and deserves a sincere "Thank You."

The 2019 pet food drive collected over 1100 pounds of dog and cat food. In spite of the COVID pandemic, Grateful Dogs was able to collect even more pet food during this year’s drive. The holiday pet food drive provides a significant portion of the almost 15,000 pounds of pet food collected and distributed by the Grateful Dogs of Juneau during 2020.

The Grateful Dogs of Juneau 10^th Annual Holiday Pet Food Drive was a success.

1163 pounds of dog and cat food were collected during the drive.

2018 -- 9th Annual Holiday Pet Food Drive - - Monday, December 3, thru Sunday, December 9

THANK YOU, JUNEAU! 2018 PET FOOD DRIVE A SUCCESS.

The Grateful Dogs of Juneau 9th Annual Holiday Pet Food Drive was a success.

975 pounds of dog and cat food were collected during the drive. GDOJ also received more than $150 in contributions to purchase additional pet food for local the food bank and food pantries.

700 pounds of dog and cat food were collected for the Southeast Alaska Food Bank and local food pantries.

PET FOOD DRIVE 2016 -- 7th ANNUAL HOLIDAY PET FOOD DRIVE WAS SUCCESS.

The GRAND TOTAL collected was 1680 pounds of dog and cat food. GDOJ collected a record amount of pet food. This years record collection exceeded the previous record by over 50%. GDOJ also received a check for $250.

Please remember that Southeast Alaska Animal Medical Center now accepts donations of new and opened packages of dog and cat food on behalf of Grateful Dogs of Juneau. The donations may be made during normal business hours. Grateful Dogs will deliver the donations to the Southeast Alaska Food Bank.

PET FOOD DRIVE 2015 collected 1006 pounds

The 2015 Holiday Pet Festival collected 1006 pounds of pet food for the Southeast Alaska Food Bank during December. 72 percent of the food collected was for dogs. The remainder was for cats.

The food was well received by the patrons of the food bank. All of the food collected has already been distributed.

The pet food drive was organized by Pam Nelson. A number of volunteers contributed their time distributing collection boxes and picking up donations. Thanks to Julia Carlilse, Paula Terrel, Vicky McLaughlin, and Deborah Behr.

Thanks are especially due to the businesses and veterinary clinics that hosted the collection boxes. Foodland IGA, Rainbow Foods, Heritage Coffee Shop (Front Street), Coppa, Pet Nanny's Place, Super Bear SuperMarket, Wee Fishie Shoppe, Canines Unlimited, Heritage Coffee Shop/CafÃ© (Mall Road), Southeast Alaska Animal Medical Center, Tongass Veterinary Services, Juneau Veterinary Hospital, Curves, Doggie Do's Grooming & Pet Sitting.

If you have the opportunity, thank these businesses for their support of the pet food drive.

Special recognition must be given to the 3 local veterinary clinics (Southeast Alaska Animal Medical Center, Juneau Veterinary Hospital, Tongass Veterinary Services) and Doggie Do's Grooming and Pet Sitting who were quite supportive of the pet food drive and generated a majority of the pet food donations during the drive.

2014 Holiday Pet Food Drive Collected 848 pounds.

The total amount of pet food collected during the 2013 pet food drive was 668 pounds; during the 2012 pet food drive was 635 pounds; during the 2011 pet food drive was 902 pounds; during the 2010 pet food drive was 1028 pounds.
