How Can My Dog and I Be Good Citizens
on Local Trails?
The Grateful Dogs advocate responsible dog ownership and trail
etiquette by promoting the following:
- Purchase an annual CBJ dog license for your canine companion.
- Display your dog’s current CBJ license tag on an
appropriate collar or harness for your dog.
- Ensure that your dog is under control, either by leash
or voice command at all times.
- Keep your dog out of the way of other citizens, including
bird watchers, walkers, parents with strollers, bicyclists,
runners, skiers, etc.
Not allow your dog to touch someone who does not want
to be touched.
- When walking your dog off-leash, give the right-of-way
to others with their dogs that are on-leash.
- Not allow your dog to harass wildlife.
- Pick up your dog’s waste and dispose of it properly.
- Meet the needs of your canine companion, including:
- Cleanliness
- Health
- Grooming
- Nutrition
- Training
- Appropriate Exercise
